Google recently announced it will purchase the Thompson Center for a new, massive office suite for its employees. Google has agreed to buy all of the iconic 17‑story building for $105 million after it is renovated by others. The Thompson Center is the only building in the city where six L train lines converge, providing employees with unparalleled public transit access.

By establishing a presence in Chicago’s central business district, Google will be at the forefront of a broader revitalization of the Loop, which the City hopes will include thousands of new and converted residential units. After being renovated into a Class A environmentally friendly office building, Google plans to occupy the Thompson Center starting in 2026.
